Obituary of Alice Amanda Sebastian
It is with sadness that the family of Alice announces her passing on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the age of 80 years. Alice was born on March 28, 1937, in Montmartre, SK, and grew up in a Catholic francophone milieu until she moved with her family to Regina in 1952. They lived in the cathedral area where she attended Sacred Heart Academy. Here she forged friendships that would last a lifetime. Alice met the love of her life Bernie on a blind date and they married in 1956. In 1957, they moved for Bernie's work to Yorkton where Alice participated in community life as a member of Beta Sigma Phi and gave birth to her daughters Candace and Sandra. In 1962, Alice and family moved back to Regina where her youngest daughter Andrea was born. Alice enjoyed a lengthy career as a high school secretary, first at Campion College then Dr. Martin Leboldus. She found working with students very fulfilling and knew them all by name. Alice was full of energy and spirit. She loved to take brisk walks with her girlfriends, play bridge, and was a voracious reader of nonfiction. She enjoyed travelling with Bernie to hot destinations and attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and their children. She was courageous and determined in the face of life's difficulties. Her husband Bernie and her daughters Candace Hamilton (Darryl) and Andrea (Chris) will miss her dearly and cherish her memory. Alice will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Jenna, Braden (Charlcey), Chelsea and Kenton (Makenzee); her great grandchildren, Kyan, Malek and Pippa; her siblings Peter, Monique, Angeline, Armand and Lorraine; and all of her friends. Alice was predeceased by her daughter Sandra; and her parents Joseph and Antoinette. Special thanks to the staff at the William Booth Special Care Home and the Medical Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital for their professionalism and compassion. A Celebration of Alice's Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will follow at a later date at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alice to a charity of your choice.
