Obituary of Henry Lawrence Forrieter
HENRY LAWRENCE FORRIETER
1922-2017
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Henry at Pasqua Palliative Care on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the age of 95 years. He had a sharp mind right to the end doing crossword puzzles in ink and playing five cards on bingo day at Helping Hands private care home, where he lived the last two years. Henry is survived by two sisters, Adell Bregg and Dorothy (Earle) Wood; one brother Ed; brother-in-law Ron (Audrey) Euteneier; sister-in-law Ruth Euteneier; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen; father and mother; two sisters; one brother; and one brother-in-law. Henry was born in the Bruno district on March 20, 1922 to John and Caroline Forrieter. As a young man, he worked at various jobs in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Ontario. In January 1943, Henry was drafted into the Royal Canadian Signal Corp and was stationed in Halifax. In February 1945, he was sent to England for basic training for combat, but the war ended before he saw action. After the war was over, Henry was sent to Holland to help rebuild the war torn area. In 1953, he moved to Regina, working for Canada Post and worked until his retirement in March 1983. Following his retirement, Henry managed the H&R Block office in Sears for six years. On July 4, 1964, he married the love of his life Eileen Euteneier. They loved to travel and travelled extensively in Canada, USA, and Europe; and they visited China, Australia, New Zealand, and South America. Suddenly in March of 2015, Eileen passed away and Henry was lost. In addition to his beloved wife, his extended family was very important to him. He will be truly missed. We would like to thank Helping Hands for the great care they gave Henry and Pasqua Hospital for his care the last ten days. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christ Lutheran Church or charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated.
