Obituary of Ruth Thompson

RUTH THOMPSON (née HAMPSHIRE)

Ruth, late of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the age of 98 years. She was born in Montreal to Alfred and Ethel Hampshire. She was predeceased by three older brothers, Cyril, Leslie, and Bernard. Ruth married Bill Thompson in February of 1941, who was her loving companion for 48 years. They raised their family in Toronto and later moved to Saskatoon in 1964. Ruth is survived by son Gerry of Toronto; daughter Heather Appleby of Regina; grandchildren, Tim Appleby of Victoria, Lindsay (Ambrose Allin) of Yorkton, and Robert Appleby (Dionne Fisher) of Regina. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Griffin Allin, Nina Allin, Ophelie Appleby, and Madelynn Appleby. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Private family interment will be in Saskatoon. The family is sincerely grateful to Unit 2E at Regina Pioneer Village for their dedication and compassionate care.
