GORDON ALEXANDER SMITH

October 18, 1940 – January 17, 2018

On Wednesday, January 17, 2018 Gord passed away peacefully with family at his side. Gord handled his illness with courage, dignity, positivity, and grace. He will be deeply missed by his wife Sharon; daughters, Janice (Adrian) Wolfmueller, Jocelyn (David) Robinson, and Jodie Smith. Gord's grandchildren were always a source of pride for him, Zachary (Amanda) Wolfmueller, Rebecca (Brandon) Petford, and Nicole Robinson. His three great-grandchildren were an added bonus to his life, Emily, Greyson, and Caleb. As a husband, dad, and grandpa, Gord was a gentle and loving man. His family meant the world to him and he meant the world to us. The days when all his family were together were the ones that meant the most to him. Gord was the glue that held the family together and was always a gracious host to anyone entering his home. This exceptional man leaves those who knew him with a hurting heart. However, everyone Gord touched has many cherished memories. The days spent with family or those spent with good friends in sunny Yuma, AZ were the greatest for our dad. Gord filled his life with many activities including, gardening, barbecuing, playing pool, playing cards and games, golfing, camping, fishing, and boating. Dad imparted many principles to his children. The importance of family, education and a strong work ethic, always giving your best, kindness matters, and not to worry until you knew you had something to worry about. Dad also had a great sense of humour and a large bank of one liners that were always entertaining to those around him. Over the years, dad made countless sacrifices for his family, we are forever in his debt. Good bye brave heart, you are etched in our memories forever. A private family celebration honouring Gord's life will occur at a later date. Flowers are graciously declined.
