Obituary of Alice Mary Bing-Wo

ALICE MARY BING-WO

Alice Mary Bing-Wo passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24 at the age of 77 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Art and Lily Wong; and grandbabies, Steven and Thomas. Mary is sadly mourned by David, her loving husband of 55 years; her children, Ron (Karen), Gordon (Juliane), Richard (Fennie), and Carla (Scott); grandchildren, Alison, Cynthia, William, and Alex; six siblings and a large extended family. Mary was born in Assiniboia, grew up in Lake Alma, and moved to Regina with her family in 1956. She was a registered nurse, graduating from the Regina General Hospital in the class of 1961.  Upon graduation, Mary took a commission in the army reserves as a 2nd lieutenant. She worked at the General Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, the Plains Health Centre, and Sunset Extendicare.  The patients loved her because she was so kind. Mary was always generous and thoughtful of others.  She opened her home as a hub for visiting relatives. Mary volunteered and fundraised for many non-profits and charities.  She was a talented bamboo brush artist and an especially accomplished knitter. Mary often knit intricate patterns and could even knit in her sleep! She loved children and was happy to teach her grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews to make cookies and pies. Mary was very special for everyone and is sadly missed by all. Special thanks to the staff at the Renal Dialysis Unit at the General Hospital, where she was on dialysis for the last few years. Thanks also to the staff at the General’s ICU and CSU for their care. Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 190 Massey Road, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Hospitals of Regina Foundation or a charity of your choice.
