Marilyn Willimott

Obituary of Marilyn Mae Willimott

Marilyn died peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Predeceased by her parents James and Beulah Hall and brother Greg Hall, Marilyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Don; children Mike (Marnie) Willimott; Jay (Patrice Krueger) Willimott; Carolyn (Peter) McKinnon; Mary-Anne Willimott; grandchildren Sean (Lindsay Cowan) Willimott,  Liam McKinnon, Maeve McKinnon, Callan Willimott; siblings Sharon Purdy,  James (Jan Joel) Hall, Patrick (Annette Sinclair) Hall; sisters-in-law Pat Porter and Agnes Hall; brother-in-law Frank Willimott, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Born and raised in Regina, Marilyn was a proud graduate of the Regina Grey Nun’s Hospital School of Nursing. “Willy” worked on Ward 3-6 at the Regina General Hospital for many years, and then at Santa Maria Nursing Home.  Marilyn was the consummate nurse inside and outside the hospital.  Her beautiful and reassuring smile, intelligence and healing touch comforted her patients, family and friends.

In her retirement, along with volunteering at Visitation House, Marilyn was able to spend more time doing other  things she loved- reading (and reading and reading and reading), knitting, walking, biking, gardening, cross country skiing, attending the symphony and Globe Theatre, and especially catching up with everyone at our loud and fun family parties.  Don and Marilyn loved their annual visits to Waskesiu, canoeing in the clear lakes, and their winters in Victoria. Marilyn also travelled internationally to Korea, Thailand, Mexico, Cuba, Ireland and Hawaii.

Marilyn was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and nurturing grandmother to Sean, Liam, Maeve and Callan. They cherish their memories of baking cookies, trips to the library, “theme days” at Grandma and Bop’s, and playing in the sunny back yard.

Prayers will take place at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 3125-13th Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 7:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 11:00 am.  Don and family send sincere thanks to the Palliative Home Care Team for their support and compassionate care.
