Obituary of Victor Neiser

Victor, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 83 years on Saturday, March 24, 2018. Vic is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma Neiser; his daughter Paula and her children Travis and Amanda (MacKenzie); his son, Vincent (Connie) and their children Jennafer (Brandon) and Daniel; his brother Val (Faye); his nephews and nieces; as well as many dear and cherished family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm and Anna Neiser, and his infant sister. Vic was born in Dnepretrowsk, Ukraine on July 29, 1934. With his father’s help, Vic apprenticed to be a decorative painter and a paper-hanger and continued in that trade when he and his family immigrated to Canada in 1953.  In 1960, Vic married Alma (Seida) and in 1964 they bought a farm in the Frankslake area, where they built their family home. Together with their two children and with the help of family and friends, they enjoyed all that the family farm offered - raising animals, growing bountiful gardens, fruit trees, and working the land to produce fields of canola, wheat and flax. Vic loved spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed going fishing. His favourite fishing trips were made to Little Deer Lake - a trip he and his family made for many years. As Vic approached retirement, he and Alma took advantage of the extra time, playing in cribbage tournaments on weekends, playing cards and shuffle board at the Senior’s Center, as well as sharing evenings with friends playing cards. Despite being diagnosed with cancer, he did not slow in his last few years. Vic continued as he did his whole life, finding peace by keeping busy on the farm, playing cards with friends and spending time with his family. He wanted only to know that Alma and his children were going to be fine when he was gone. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the Palliative Home Care staff who made Vic’s final days comfortable. A private family graveside service and a celebration of Vic’s life will be held at a later date.
