Obituary of Mavis Galenzoski (nee Dunlop)
Mavis took her first breath on Sunday, November 13, 1932 in Lamont, Alberta and her last breath on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Regina, Saskatchewan. In between, she lived a life of kindness, caring, integrity, and love as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph (1966) and Inez (1997) Dunlop (Indian Head); her first husband, Albert “Bud” Hilderman (1961) (Regina); and her infant son, Thomas Theaker (1966) (Wilcox). Those left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life are her husband of 34 years, Harold Galenzoski (Regina); her brother, Orville Dunlop (Saskatoon); her sons, Rod Hilderman (Kamsack), Bob (Jan) Hilderman (Regina), and Jeff (Tanis Savill) Hilderman (Estevan); her daughter, Diane (Kelly) Jamison (Calgary); her stepdaughters, Gaylene (Roger) Weir (Regina) and Susan (Michel) Reinberg (Calgary); her stepsons, Darrell Galenzoski (Red Deer) and Tom (Pauline Ranger) Galenzoski (Sherwood Park); her seventeen grandchildren; and her eight great-grandchildren. The family gives special thanks and appreciation to Harold for his love, caring and support for Mavis, especially during the last 15 years of her life as a resident at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina. It was a very challenging time for Mavis, but the impact of his devotion, and the degree to which it sustained and improved her quality of life, cannot be measured. The family also gives thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff on Unit 3-3 at Wascana for the thoughtful care and attention that Mavis has received over the years. At the family’s request, a private funeral service will be held. For those wishing to remember Mavis, donations may be made in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Unit 26-1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3.
