Kathleen passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the age of 98 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Lucile; her children, Diane (Ralph), Evan, Doreen, Clayton, and Charles; her daughters-in-law, Bernice and Debbie; her twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.  Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Gordon; three sons, Ted, Lorne, and Allan; her parents, Blanche (née Kornder) and Edward; her brother Donald; and her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ray Hauptman. Born in Unity SK, July 14, 1919, Kathleen grew up in the Carruthers, SK and Hughenden, AB areas. A nursing graduate of the Saskatoon City Hospital, she enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a nurse, working at various health care facilities in the province, before retiring from the Regina General Hospital. Following Kathleen’s retirement, volunteering for The Kidney Foundation of Canada became her passion. She was involved in church events, ceramics and stitchery groups, choirs, as well as a red hat ladies’ group. Kathleen's love of travel led her throughout the world, meeting new people and forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. She continued to play piano, quilt, and bake her famous buns until her mid-nineties. Kathleen inspired many with her life of service to the community. A Memorial Service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. The family extends a special thank you to the health care professionals for their support of Mom in her final years. Flowers gratefully declined.
