Obituary of Shirley Kathleen Gamerschlag

GAMERSCHLAG, Shirley

June 5, 1959 – July 5, 2018

Surrounded by love and with her family by her side, Shirley Gamerschlag of Cupar, Saskatchewan crossed over peacefully to the other side.  She was predeceased by her father Jack Shinske; nephew Shane Flaman; brother-in-law Gil Clarkson; and numerous friends.  Shirley is survived by her loving husband John; mother Dee Shinske; daughters Megan (Darren) Pele and Tess (Keith) Trenker; grandchildren Josh, Lara, Paige, Rhys and Bria; sisters Pat Clarkson and Terrie Shinske; niece Bobbi Crankfield and her children Nahla and Zuko; nephew Michael Flaman; Uncle Don (Dee) Shinske; brother-in-law Bob (Cathy) Rittwage and nephew Jai; fur babies Baby and Sophie.  Shirley always lived life to the fullest and told everyone that the answer to everything is love.  She and John enjoyed every minute they spent together.  They created a home that was welcoming to all and always filled with joy and laughter.  Shirley loved to spend time with her family and always hosted family holidays and other special occasions.  She will be remembered for her open heart and acceptance of anyone that crossed her path.  Shirley believed that you should treat others as you want to be treated and that is how she lived her life.  The last couple of years were not easy for Shirley, but she faced everything with courage, hope and faith.  A heart felt thank you from Shirley and all of the family to Dr Joanne McLeod and Jan for going above and beyond in her last days.  Thank you also to Dr. Lotz, the palliative homecare team and everyone that supported Shirley in her efforts to get to Edmonton last winter. To Celebrate Shirley’s Life a Graveside Service will be held in Cupar Cemetery, Cupar, SK, on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.  Time for reflection and refreshments at the Cupar Legion Hall to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpha-1 Canada, alpha1canada.ca.
