Obituary of Carole Ann Johns
March 7, 1938 - July 26, 2018
Carole Ann was taken from her family and many friends, far too soon. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John, her devoted daughters Leanne, Kimberly, and Colleen, and her adoring grandchildren Kaitlyn, Reid, Cameron, and Kendall and numerous other friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her father Alfred Parkes, mother Catherina “Marjorie” Walters (née Donolo), and brother Edward Parkes.
Carole was a student at the Univ. of Saskatchewan, graduating and becoming a Registered Nurse. Carole was beautiful both inside and out. She was chosen at separate times as Queen of the Colleges of Medicine and of Agriculture during her time at the U of S. But it was when she travelled to Regina for a formal ball as Queen of a Masonic organization that friends arranged for her to be escorted by another U of S student who had travelled down to Regina that same weekend. After that “blind date" with John, the rest is history.
Carole possessed impeccable taste and style and progressed to becoming an admired cook, dinner party host, and doting Nana, while somehow always staying young for her age. Just a few short weeks before her death she was still the coolest grandmother as she zipped around town in her WRX sports car.
Carole was that unique type of person who was forever freely giving of her love and time; whose concern was always for others rather than herself. An excellent friend to those throughout her life, everyone who knew her described her as kind, fun to be around, and caring; a person who asked for little but gave a lot. Those closest to her are heartbroken and feel her loss dearly.
Considerate of others to the end Carole asked to be cremated with no accompanying somber events. Her family is granting her express request to have only a Celebration of her Life. A time and location will be announced in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
