Obituary of Wasylka "Lee" Rutkowski

Lee passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Lumsden and District Heritage Home at the age of 78 years. She is survived by her loving husband Ted; daughter Deborah Niekamp (Daryl); granddaughter Amanda; sisters, Elena of Yorkton, and Dora Schekk (Andrew) of Mistatim; sister-in-law Lynda (Nick) of Cranbrook, BC; and many nephews and nieces. Lee was predeceased by her parents George and Katie (nee Kowalyk); brothers, William, Metro, John, and Nick; sisters, Mary, Annie, Sadie, Alice, Mary, Victoria, and Dora. Lee loved to work with the babies at the Regina General Hospital and also loved meeting with new people and making new friends when she later worked at places like Bonanza and Arby’s. She was also an excellent homemaker and loved to sew, cook and work in the garden. Lee loved to walk and wouldn’t let the weather keep her indoors.  A special thank you to all the staff at the Lumsden and District Care Home who befriended and comforted her during her stay there. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on at Speers Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Riverside Memorial Park. Family and Friends so wishing may make memorial donations in Lee’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
