Rob was my neighbor and became a coworker when I was first with the police as a dispatcher. He was one of the reasons I went to Paramedic school. He always had stories of adventure and of his work. He was such a bright light and full of life. It broke my heart to hear that he lost the battle. My only wish is that his soul at peace to soar amongst the clouds and that his family be surrounded by all the love and support the community has to offer. I will miss you Rob

My sincerest condolences to Robbie's family.
I first met Robbie when I was a RN working in Emergency Pasqua from 1998-2014. My heart aches with the news of his passing. Our family has reminisced over the last few days of the impact that Robbie had on our lives, He had looked after my husband Paul, and as well offered my daughter Haley, whom is now a Paramedic herself, kind words of wisdom about her chosen career, that she will never forget. Even after I left Emergency, I would run into Robbie and he would always stop and chat, I would get a hug, hear his infectious laugh as he would flash his beautiful smile. Ironically working in healthcare and making it his mission to help everyone else, we could not help him.
For Robbie's parents, thank you for sharing a beautiful man that has made such a profound impact on all our lives. To my Emergency and EMS family, take care and comfort each other.
We lost a beautiful soul.
Rest in peace Robbie.

Oh Rob, I dont even know where to begin. I am shattered to hear of your passing. You are one of the most genuine, caring and oh so funny person I know! You always knew when I was having an off day or needed to go out to have some lung therapy. As has been said by others, you my friend were one hell of Paramedic and Man!! You always were able to make sure the patients were calm before we went in! You always thought of our safety first! Or even if it wasn't a patient you brought, if there was someone acting up, you always had a way to bring them down-or at least tried your damndest!
To all of Robbie's family, I know he was one heck of a man! Take comfort in each other and your memories. I am so sorry for your loss.
My EMS friends and Robs coworkers, My heart is literally breaking for you, find comfort in each other as well as your families.
My old ER colleagues, Rob's infectious smiles, genuine personality will also be deeply missed. He always had to make sure he told us one more story or joke to get us laughing! Rest Easy my friend. Please know you impacted my life with your encouragements, smiles and even hugs if it was warranted! You are a true hero, rest easy and be free!!

Although I did not know Rob personally I know too well what PTSD does to the people we love and work with. The trauma each of the first responders carries with them from every call slowly ears away at their soul. We lay awake in bed at night and ask WHY. Over and over. We second guess ourselves. Maybe if I had done this? Or been faster to respond we see things now other person could imagine once In Their life but we see it daily. And then we have to push it back and carry on to the next patient. The next call. The darkness soon folllows and there is no one that can help us pull open the curtains to see the sunlight and beauty of the world. True caring people , torn apart by death and destruction. It’s no ones fault. This is the life of a paramedic, firefighter, first. Responder, ER nurse and doctor we just need to push for more support , more time to heal ourselves Time to remember how to live ourselves and feel truly happy. I am truly so very heartbrokren about his loss. Another angel has his wings. He will be there watching over his comrades on the streets with every call. You may feel his touch on your shoulder supporting you Whispering it’s ok.

I can’t find any adequate words...
May we see you in the sunrise celebrating the beginning of a new day.
May we feel you in the warm breeze or the sunshine on our skin.
May we hear you in the laughter of friends and family.
May we sense your spirit on days we yearn for meaning.
May the memories of the love and care you so generously gave to each person you met inspire us to courageously carry on...
Until we meet again.
I am so incredibly thankful to have known you and so very honoured to have worked with you.

To all of Robbie’s loved ones
So very sorry to hear of his passing. He was such a great guy. Over the last few years I have spent quite a bit of time in the ER’s with my parents. Every time Robbie came in on a call and saw me he always made a point to say hi and chat. He had such a vibrant smile and outgoing, friendly personality.
Remember as you mourn, tears that fall are droplets of love sent to the heavens.
Thoughts and condolences to all his loved ones and co-workers.

My sincere condolences to your family and those closest to you. Robbie, you will forever be in my thoughts and a part of my favourite memories at work for sure. You had a way of making sure everyone around you was feeling good. You always made me feel better when I needed it and i will miss all our conversations and hugs! I know your free now from all those “bad thoughts” and pain. Hopefully as comfortable and care free as can be! You are so dearly missed Robbie. Forever in my heart. Always your friend. Kristie

My heart is crushed. My “little Robbie Curtis” he will always be. This man had the special ability to make you feel like you were the most important person in the world when he spoke to you. He instinctively knew when you needed a Robbie hug.
I can not count how many times he would help me out at Triage when I was overwhelmed and he was on an offload delay. He would take patches, and do vital signs and start iv’s.
When there was a tough patient, he would offer his hands to help get them stabilized, and would always make sure I was ok before he signed over care. That was Robbie. All about looking after his team. And all he needed in return was a sandwich or a package of cheese, that served as his lunch or supper break.
His vitality, his caring heart, his genuine laugh, and comforting hugs will be deeply missed forever. He was, and will always be such a huge part of the emergency team.
Until I hear “Hello Beautiful” again, I will miss you my friend. You’ve handed over for the last time, and your shift is done. I’ve got it from here.
