Obituary of Lillian Gwendoline Turnquist

TURNQUIST, Lillian Gwendoline

November 19, 1923 – August 21, 2018

Gwen Turnquist, late of Regina, SK, went peacefully to sleep on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Doug; her son Gerald; and her nephews, Cliff Dignean and Ron Micklewright. Gwen is survived by her daughter Rhona of Regina; sister Nora Dignean of Saskatoon; sister-in-law Beryl Micklewright of Oshawa; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Mom was born on the farm at Aberdeen, SK and she told stories of picking stones and stooking grain at harvest, and taking the horse to go to school as a child. She moved into Saskatoon to work, and then met and married Dad in 1947. The family moved to Regina in 1953.  Mom was an accomplished seamstress and did alterations for Renette’s Boutique and custom dressmaking for many years. Her hobbies included cooking, oil painting, and golfing at the cottage at Chitek Lake. Mom enjoyed her garden and watching the many birds in the backyard right to the end of her life. Celebration of Life Service will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gwen may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, P.O. Box 29025, Preston Crossing, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4Y2 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
