Obituary of Leila Marie Tobias

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leila Tobias of Vibank, SK on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Anne (Fink) Stoudt; brother Russ Stoudt; brother-in-law Adam Ell; and parents-in-law, Bill and Apollonia Tobias. Leila is survived by her husband of 62 years, John; their children, Colleen Butz, Connie Selinger (Keith), Leta Tobias, Tim Tobias, and Scott Tobias (Colinda); sister Gladys Klimchuk (Ray); sisters-in-law Elaine Stoudt, Jeanette Ell, and Carol Nichol (Glen); nine Grandchildren, eleven great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Leila was born on January 25, 1937, and received her education at Elsas School in Vibank. After school days, she worked in Regina then married John, moved to the farm and raised five children. Leila was the oldest grandchild on the Fink side of the family and, in later years, became known as the matriarch to cousins and relatives. Leila was an active member of St. Paul's Parish, serving on council and taking her turn as President of CWL. She taught religion and was a member of the church choir. Leila was Vibank's first librarian and was also involved in community events such as variety nights, fashion shows, costume cabarets, and dances. Leila and John met many people and made lots of friends throughout their life together, including their travels and their involvement with the Antique Auto Association of Regina. Leila had a gift for visiting and entertaining and she continued to do so with many visitors during her final days. “We love you and will miss you.” Our thanks to all the medical staff for your care and compassion during Leila’s illness this past year. Leila has graciously bequeathed herself to Medical Science. There will be a Mass of Her Remembrance at St. Paul’s Parish, Vibank, SK on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Vibank Community Hall.
