Marvin Tegart

Obituary of Marvin Lewis Tegart

On Thursday, September 13, 2018 Marvin Lewis Tegart passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he loved most, his wife, his daughter, and his son-in-law. He is survived by his wife Pat; his daughter Treena and son-in-law David; David’s brother Greg; his brothers, Larry (Monique) and Gerry (Jeannie); special niece Roxanne (Laurent); special great-niece Monique; nephews, Kevin (Sharleen, great-nieces Madison and Seridian), and Colin; aunts Elsie, Eileen, and Grace; special sister-in-law Sharon (Grant); special cousins; and numerous friends. Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Lew; and brother Dwayne. He was born on March 20, 1940 in Kelvington, SK and was the first of four boys born to Mary and Lew. His father was a school teacher who taught in one room schools. Through the years the family travelled to many teacherages beginning in the Kelvington area and ending at Bryn Mawr in the Southey District.  In 1962 Marvin married Pat Lundell. He began his trucking career and together they embarked on their adventures through life. In 1971 they welcomed a daughter, Treena. Camping, traveling, meeting others over coffee and polishing vehicles became a big part of Marvin’s life. In retirement he made canes and walking sticks out of diamond willow, and became a collector of flashlights. In 2000 Marvin had to retire when he had to go on dialysis. Life revolved around trips to the Renal Unit where new friends were made. Life changed in 2003 when he received a kidney transplant. Marvin and Pat returned to camping and traveling, with an excursion to the Maritimes being a highlight. In 2017 life changed once again. Marvin’s transplanted kidney began to fail and he found himself back on dialysis. He renewed acquaintances, met new friends and continued to be interested in the lives of others. This past year Marvin fought to maintain his health until his passing.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Ellwood, Dr. Prasad, Dr. Richardson, the nurses of 6F and the nurses in the Renal Unit. Marvin’s family invites you to join them in fellowship at the Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 between 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Kelvington at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family and friends so wishing may make a donation, in memoriam, to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Saskatchewan Branch, 1-2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6A8.  To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
