Obituary of Hector Wilbrod Bouchard

It is with great sadness that the family of Hector Wilbrod Bouchard announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the age of 77 years.

Hector was predeceased by his parents Roseaime (Vaillancourt) and Antonio Bouchard; sisters, Carmel McGuire, Aurore Lajeneuse, and Demarise Belangier; brother Louis Scott-Bouchard; sister-in law Rose Bouchard; and brother-in-law Brian Eiger.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Leona and his children, Shane (Erin), Shawn (Danny), and Dwight (Gwen). Hector will also be fondly remembered by his ten grandchildren, Terry, Theodore, Adam, Daniel, Kristen, Shane Jr, Kelsey, Shyla, Madison, and Ava; as well as his fourteen great-grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his sisters, Agnes (Bert) Gerow and Rose Eiger; and brothers, Fern, Andy (Grace), and Denis; sister-in-law Carol Henry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Hector was born in Timmins, Ontario on March 11, 1941 to Roseaime and Antonio Bouchard. He was one of ten siblings, five sisters and four brothers. He attended elementary school in Timmins until grade three and then moved onto South Porcupine, where he attended high school. It was there that Hector met his future bride Leona Pattison. Once married, he started a family and started his career in Ontario as a miner working at numerous mines throughout Ontario and Quebec. In 1973, he headed west and settled in Uranium City, Saskatchewan, to continue his career as a miner. In 1981, Hector moved him and his family to Webb, Saskatchewan, where he decided to take on the career of a boiler engineer. In 1985, he then decided to enroll in the RCMP. He became a Special Constable and was stationed in Montreal in 1986. When Hector retired due to a medical injury in 1989, he moved back to Regina, Saskatchewan. He was a jack of all trades. Hector enjoyed the outdoor life of hunting, camping, and most of all fishing. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and coffeeing with all his friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, the Pasqua hospital Palliative unit 3A and 3B for all their care and support during this difficult time. Hector’s favourite nurses, both Sharon’s and Shanna made his final days comfortable. A Funeral Service will be held at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division Chapel on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service and luncheon at the officer’s mess. A viewing for those wishing to attend will take place prior to the funeral service at 1:30 p.m.
