Obituary of Theodore Joseph Brockmeyer

BROCKMEYER, Theodore Joseph, late of Regina, SK, passed away at the Regina General Hospital on February 13, 2002 at the age of 83. Born on November 9, 1918 at Humboldt, SK. Ted leaves to mourn his memory his cherished family: his beloved wife of 51 rewarding years Victoria Clara Bayda (Berg); his eight children, families and partners: Carol, Della and David Breton of Regina, Karen Brockmeyer of Sparwood, BC, Joyce (Doug), Dustan, Reid and Jordan Robertson of Regina, Murray (Sue) Brockmeyer of Fernie, BC, their two daughters and six grandsons, Dr, Donna Brockmeyer-Klebaum (Bradley) and Zackary of Saskatoon, Arlene (Ron), Tanya, Courtney, twins Brett and Jared Sabo of Cochrane, AB, Theodore Brockmeyer (Jennifer O’Brian) of Saskatoon and James Brockmeyer of Cochrane, AB, one brother Ferdinand of Humboldt and several nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by his mother Theresa in 1963 and his father John in 1939, his brothers John, Joseph and Henry and sister Kate Tschida, his 5 year old son Leon in 1960, and his infant grandson Adam Sabo in 1992. Ted went to school in Carmel, served in the army where he won the Golden Gloves for boxing, and worked in Carmel buying grain and stoking railroad engines. He married Clara in 1950 in Humbolt and then worked for his brother John in the hotel in Strasbourg.  In 1955, he bought a hotel in Grayson, in 1963 a hotel in Lemberg, and in 1971 a hotel in Moose Jaw. He relocated to Regina and worked for the City in Parks retiring in 1983. Subsequent to his retirement he served with the Corps of Commissionaires. Ted’s interests were gardening, hunting, wine making, cross-country skiing, baseball, hockey (especially his son’s and grandson’s hockey) band loved the company of his family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 16, 2002 in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave. in Regina at 4:00 PM with Deacon Joe Lang officiating.
