Obituary of Frederick Charles Newis

NEWIS, Frederick C.

January 16, 1931 – November 17, 2018

We sadly announce the loss of Fred Newis. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Chuck and May Newis; in-laws Harry and Etta Jones; his brother Walter; nephew Parker McClelland; and brothers-in-law, Bill Vance, Jim Vinen, and Doug Hingley. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley; children, Bob and Sandra; sisters, Eleanor Vinen, Marilyn McClelland, Eileen Vance, and Linda (Ralph) Elgren; sister-in law Lois Hingley; and fourteen nephews and nieces. Fred worked for the court system of the Government of Saskatchewan for 40 years. When he retired in 1995, he was the Registrar for the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal. Fred enjoyed his association with the many people with whom he worked, and was respected and appreciated for his knowledge and assistance. His love of cars was well known. Fred was a founding member of the Sports Car Club of Saskatchewan and participated in many races of all sorts. He joined the Antique Automobile Association of Regina in 1979 and took pleasure in driving his restored cars to events. As a retirement project with the help of family and a few tradespeople, Fred built his house at Regina Beach and moved there in 2007. We wish to thank the staff at Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, and especially Dr. Iqbal and Dorianne, for their support during our many visits. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be given to the charity of your choice.
