Obituary of Ronald Curtis Nesland

RONALD CURTIS NESLAND

March 30, 1947 – November 25, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our brother Ronald, age 71, of Regina, on Sunday morning, November 25, 2018 in Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.

Ronald was born in Climax, SK to Bennie and Melva Jean Nesland, the second of five children.  He completed grade 10 at Climax High School and also became a skilled mechanic, starting about age 14 when he was given an old car that he took apart and reassembled. Ronald worked at the local garage in Climax until he moved to Calgary, where he studied heavy duty mechanics for 2 years at SAIT. He then headed to Manitoba with his brother Levine, and worked at Thompson as mechanic in the nickel mine and also at Manitoba Hydro in Missi Falls.

Illness overtook Ronald when he was in his 30’s and he moved to Regina for the rest of his life.  He was employed in Regina at times, but had to give up steady employment. Ronald was very outgoing and had numerous friends. He also had a mind like an encyclopedia and could talk extensively on almost any topic. Ronald loved to tell jokes and quotes.

Predeceased by his father in 1973, his mother in 2007 and brother Raymond in 1966, Ron will be greatly missed by brother Levine (Suanne) of St. Bonifacius, MN; sister Valerie of Regina and nephew Cory (Monique); sister Sharon (John) Patterson of Swift Current, and niece and nephew Monica (Andy) Keys, and Jason (Larissa) of Waldeck SK.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to any Mental Health organization or Canadian Mental Health Association, 1810 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4P 2S8. We extend immense gratitude to the numerous professionals who assisted Ronald in his struggles.
