Obituary of Raul Burchi
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Raul Burchi of Regina, SK, on December 11, 2018 at the age of 93 years. He was predeceased by his parents Luigi and Elisabetta Burchi, brothers Enrico (Liliana), Elio (Berta), Romano (Annunziatina), sisters Elide (Gisberto) and Infant Elide, brothers-in-law Franco Fracchia and Tony Tazzioli, nephew Roy Tazzioli, and his beloved wife Carinda Burchi. Left to cherish his memory is his son Steven (Jackie) Burchi, granddaughters Ariana (Sam) McCullough, Kirsten Burchi (Carter Holmes), great-granddaughter Nora McCullough, brother Edmondo (Elide) Burchi, sisters-in-law Valeria Fracchia and Dina Tazzioli, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family and friends in Canada, Italy and Venezuela. Raul was born on February 16, 1925 in Frassinoro, Modena, Italy and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s, arriving in Quebec City and making his way west to settle in Regina, SK. Soon after the love of his life, Carinda, arrived in Regina from Italy in 1955 and they started their 60 year love affair. Raul worked 35+ years in the construction industry in Regina, spending the majority of his time with Con-Force Structures. As the plant manager, he proudly oversaw construction of many buildings, bridges and other structures in southern Saskatchewan. Raul was also an original founding member of the G. Marconi Canadian-Italian Club. As early Italian immigrants to Regina, Raul and Carinda were often the first to assist new Italian immigrants settling into Regina and helping them feel at home. Nothing made him prouder than his son Steven, and becoming Nonno to his two “Bellas” Ariana and Kirsten. In the last few years of his life, becoming Bisnonno to great-granddaughter Nora was one of his greatest joys. Raul was a kind, gentle, and caring man who loved to cook, sew, make wine, and tend to his garden. Above all, he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. A remembrance service for Raul will be held at Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with private family interment to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Raul are greatly appreciated and may be made to the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association of Saskatchewan, 2610 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A3, ATTN: Cindy Wilson.
