Obituary of Shen Chuen Lamb
In the early hours of Wednesday, January 16, 2019, our Dad slipped away peacefully, with pleasant dreams on his mind. Shen Lamb, loving husband of Janet Lamb, leaves to carry on his legacy his five children: Joanne and Murray, Pam and Larry, Derrick and Tomoko, Belinda and Jeff, and Sam and Wendy; his fifteen grandchildren, Melanie, Jodi and Marcus, Neal and Ashley, Amanda and Ryan, Todd, David and Miranda, Nathan, Sydney, Sean and Jessica, Elisa and Matt, Kristen, Kyle, Maya, Brandon and Jordan; and his six great-grandchildren, Ben, Leo, Elias, Kade, Nash and Audrey. Nothing made Dad happier than having us all together.
Born in Tang Shan, China, Dad was offered admission to universities in Hong Kong and London, yet chose instead to move to the peaceful country of Canada where he attended the University of Manitoba. There, he graduated within three years with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1958. It was in Winnipeg where our suave Dad met our looker of a Mom. Following a persistent courtship, they married and went on to build a life of 62 years together.
Dad understood the importance of working hard and playing hard. His skills, integrity, and work ethic earned him the Directorship of Engineering and Architecture with the Saskatchewan government. In his three decades of working for the province, Dad oversaw the construction of more than 1,000 government buildings. Dad enjoyed playing tennis and badminton, even going on to play twice in the Remington Nationals Father-Son tournaments. As many laughs as he enjoyed on the court, what made dad smile the most were his faithful dogs, especially his exceptionally well-fed, Peppy.
As much as our hearts ache with his passing, we know we are richer for all that he has taught us: “Be kind. Be fair. Build solid foundations in your relationships. And above all else, love your family.”
Dad, please know that we will take care of Mom and spend the rest of our lives trying to make you as proud of us as we all were of you. Love you, Dad.
Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Dad would appreciate it if his friends dress in casual attire for his service.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends so wishing may make memorial donations to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK, S4P 3G7 or the Regina Food Bank, 445 Winnipeg St, Regina, SK, S4R 8P2.
