Joyce Crippin

Obituary of Joyce Margaret Crippin

Joyce passed away with family by her side, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. Mom was born in Moose Jaw on July 9, 1929, the middle child of nine children to Jack and Nettie Smith. Getting her schooling in Moose Jaw at Prince Arthur then a business course at Moose Jaw Tech, landed her a job in Regina. There mom met our Dad Willy. Married in 1954, they raised four children on  the eight block of Connaught Street. In 1985, they moved to a condo on Rae Street where she resided until now. Besides her crosswords every morning and glass of wine every evening, many activities kept her busy such as Tai Chi, bike club, exercise club, and most recently a painting class. Mom loved to travel and meet new people. Frequent visits to Mexico gained her recognition as she ripped around Playa del Carmen in her golf cart. Vacations with family let her see many countries in Europe and Asia. Mom’s love of camping took her across Canada and the U.S. Family was first and foremost in every aspect of Moms life, attested by the grief we all felt after she left us. Predeceased by her husband Willy in 2001, three sisters and one brother, she is survived by two sisters and two brothers; her children Bill (Susan) of Calgary, AB and their family, Cheihla, Rhyse, Llyra and Tyrion, Jarad, Jayda, Josh (Melanie) Gavin and Chase, Tracey (Wayne) Schwartz of Regina, SK and their family Dieter (Shantel) Rome, Auley and Lincoln, Logan (Jessica) Emmett and Wyatt, Layne (Shay) Rayna and Jackson,  Zaylee (Justin Wendt) Remington and Roghan,  Tammey  (Lyndon) Heinemann of North Battleford, SK and their family Alex, Sarah (Tom Weikle) Erin and Tori, and Hoby (Marlene) of Sherwood Park, AB and their family Paden, Garrett and Tanner. Family would like to give special thanks to Dr. M. Al-Hayki and her nurse Cindy for their care and treating Mom more like a family member than just a patient. As well as the compassion of every member of the Palliative Care Team for easing her into this next chapter. Celebration of Mom’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers most gratefully declined. Those so wishing may make memorial donations in mom’s name to the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5 would be appreciated.
