Dear Betty, Laurie, Patti, Bonnie and Families,
We were so sorry to hear of Ray's illness and now of his passing. This has been a difficult time for your family.
Ray will be remembered for his church and community involvement.
One activity really stands out in our minds. In the early 70's, Ray organized a Boy Scout Friday overnight camp in our farm yard. They set up in the far corner of a well treed area. One little messenger came to the house after dark and invited Norm and I to their campfire for entertainment. It was a great evening involving Boy Scout activities and song. Saturday morning, Norm decided to add to the fun when he realized the energetic work force that was present. Part of your dad's troop were given bats and spades to play "Wack a Mole" as others were given hoses to drain gallons of water from a tank into the existing gopher holes. It was wild and hilarious.
We often wondered if this would have been a sanctioned activity of Boy Scout Canada and how Scout Leader Kainz really felt about this.
Cherish your memories.
Sincerest regrets,
Norm and Diana Ritter
