Steve passed away peacefully at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Veterans Unit on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the age of 98 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Louise (Driscoll); parents Mike and Paraska (Popowich); brothers Bill (Annie), Fred (Olga), John (Sadie), Pete (Nellie), and Mike; sister Mary (Carl) Dobranski; nephews, Bob and Ivan; and niece Sonja Sehn. Steve is survived by his sons Percy (Sharon), Wayne (Trudy), and Dean (Laura); grandchildren Jennifer, Carrie Ann, Nathan, Ira, and Renee; great-grandchildren Brenden, Darien, Emma, Sydney, Cole, Hannah, and Victoria; great-great-grandchild Maezii. Dad was born and raised on the family homestead south of Wynyard, where he attended the Round Hills School. At 15 years old, he went to work on a large mixed farm in the Kamanatha District south-east of Semans. In 1942, Dad enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army, West Coast Defence. In 1946, he and mom returned to Kamanatha resuming a position on the “Silver Crown Farm”. Dad started Steve Pylypuk Construction in 1961, in Raymore. A couple of churches and many homes exhibit his carpentry skills and will into the future. In 1994, Dad and Mom purchased a condo in Regina where they enjoyed each other’s companionship until mom’s passing in 2013. Funeral Mass for Steve will be celebrated at Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:30 am. with Rev. Jose Periyilkatte presiding. Special thanks to Archbishop Bolen, Rev.T. Eusebio Tubale, Chaplain Joan Rink, staff and volunteers at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre West Veterans Unit for the love and support shown to Dad these last years. Thank you also to Speers Funeral Chapel for their compassion and assistance at this difficult time.
