Lois Kendel

Obituary of Lois Sylvia Kendel

KENDEL, Lois Sylvia

(1923 - 2019)

It is with heavy hearts, but a lifetime of precious memories, that we announce the passing of our much-loved Lois Kendel at the age of 95 years. The Angels she had wished for came on Friday afternoon, February 15, 2019. Born in southwestern Saskatchewan in the Climax district, Lois Fallis was still a teenager when she took her first wartime teaching assignment on the opposite side of the province at MacNutt.  Until her retirement in 1984, her teaching career touched hundreds of young lives and stretched from one-room rural schoolhouses to large urban classrooms.  In MacNutt, she met farmer and future VLA representative, Willard Kendel.  They were married in 1947, a joyful union that lasted 54 years - from MacNutt to Whitewood and Regina, with many summers at Round Lake and winters in Mesa - until Willard's death in 2001.  Lois was a proud mother and mother-in-law of Lyle and Eileen Kendel and Pamela and Ralph Goodale.  She adored her three grandsons and their spouses, Drew and Krista, Derek and Anna and Jordan and Sarah.  She especially delighted in the arrival of great-grandchildren, Julia, Graham and Noah, with another great-granddaughter expected this spring. Predeceased by her Fallis siblings, Lois is fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, and especially Rochelle (Ray) Brabender.  Also predeceased by many on the large Kendel side of her family, she will be deeply missed by in-laws Marie Wagner, Elnora Haas, Curtis and Sandy Kendel, Sylvia Kendel, and many nieces and nephews.  The family is grateful to all those who provided kindness, care and attention to Lois at both The Bentley and College Park II retirement residences, and special caregivers Laureen and Viviane.  A Celebration of Lois Kendel's Life will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK on Friday, May 10, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's in memory of Lois.
