Obituary of Joan Frances Krohn

AUGUST 4, 1926 – FEBRUARY 24, 2019

It is with great sadness the family of Joan announces her passing on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Grace Hospice in Regina at the age of 92.  Joan will be lovingly remembered by her sons Randy (Gail) and Robert (Sheila); grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jaylene (Chris, Soren, Isla, Tryg) Hansen; Noel (Melissa, Gabriel, Violet) Krohn; Devin (Heather, Henrik, Adelaine, Charlotte) Krohn; Melissa (Nathan, Madilyn) Halischuk; Bryant Krohn; as well as several nieces and nephews in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Joan was predeceased by her husband Louis; mother Lillian Adamson; and sister Betty Port. Joan was born in Sydney Australia in 1926.  She completed her training for nursing at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in Sydney in 1952.  She moved to Canada in 1954 where she meet her husband Lou in Niagara Falls, Ontario where they married in 1955.  They then moved to Grand Falls, Newfoundland where they spent 8 years before moving to Regina in 1965.  Once settled in Regina, Joan worked at the Grey Nun’s (Pasqua) Hospital from 1966 to 1982 with the majority of time working on children’s ward.   The family would like to thank the staff at Wintergreen Estates Harbour House, Pasqua Hospital and Grace Hospice for the care they provided Joan.  A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday March 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers family and friends so wishing may make memorial donations in Joan’s name to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, SK, S4W 0G3.
