Obituary of Shelagh Elizabeth Kelly
KELLY, Shelagh Elizabeth
We celebrate the life of Shelagh who passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019. Shelagh was born in Unity, Saskatchewan, in 1930. She was predeceased by her mother Inez Knowles; father Lt. Col. John C. Knowles; and brother Rea. Shelagh’s first husband, Sub Lt. Robert Jones predeceased her in 1954. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Bill and their three children: Bette (Cal), Coleen (Kent), and Pat (Rocio); grandchildren: Lauren, Aidan, and Kyle; sister-in-Law Faith Knowles and several cousins. The Knowles family followed their father’s postings around Canada during the Second World War, settling in Regina where she graduated from Central Collegiate. Shelagh trained as a laboratory technician, and worked at hospitals in Regina and Halifax. In later years, she worked as a teletype-operator and then secretary with Bill’s architectural practice. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she dedicated her life to her family. Shelagh enjoyed music, played piano and sang with a beautiful alto voice. She was inspired and artistic in everything she created for her family in her sewing, needlework, cooking and gardening. A special thank you to the caregivers at Sunset Extendicare for their kindness and compassion during her stay. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 2170 Albert Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to First Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
