Rita Harazny

Obituary of Rita Jean Harazny

HARAZNY, RITA

1931-2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rita on Sunday, April 14, 2019.  She was born on July 7, 1931 in Killaly, Saskatchewan to Mary and Anton Baumgartner.  Rita spent her early years on the farm near Killaly until she moved to Regina to attend Sacred Heart Academy.  She married Peter Harazny on May 21, 1952.  Left to cherish her memories are her children, Don (Mary-Anne) Harazny of Regina, and Claudia (Darrell) Dean of Saskatoon; her six grandchildren, Dave (Andrea) Harazny of Weyburn, Tom Harazny of Vancouver, Michelle Harazny of Regina, Matthew Dean (Emily Foley) of Saskatoon, Mitchell (Vanessa) Dean of Saskatoon and Marshall Dean of Saskatoon; her five great grandchildren, Virginia, Natalie and Clive Harazny, and Kayden and Skyler Dean; her sister Nora (Ben) Wickenheiser; and brother-in-law Norm Schmidt. Rita was predeceased by her husband Peter; parents Anton and Mary Baumgartner; and her in-laws Andrew and Nettie Harazny.  Rita worked for a short time with the Provincial Government, but primarily was a caring daughter, wife, mom, grandma and great- grandma. Mom was very committed to her family, and was always interested and proud of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments.  She was also devoted to assist her parents through their later years and went to see them daily during difficult times.  Mom spent many hours gardening and canning, much to the delight of the entire family. Rita was known for her dill pickles, apple juice, cabbage rolls and baking.  She was always willing to volunteer, whether it was through the C.W.L., the Christ the King Seniors Club or the Hamilton Plaza Volunteer Committee, to help with events and functions.  The staff at Parkside Extendicare said she was always pleasant, co-operative and friendly.  Mom always found time to say “thank you” for the smallest of things, or taking time for a visit.  Her smile and laugh always made a visit well worth your time. We would like to thank the staff at Parkside Extendicare for their compassion and continuous care. “Mom you will be forever missed and never forgotten.” Funeral Mass will be held at Christ The King Roman Catholic Parish, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
