I met Ben while working at The Bay in 1984/85, he in men’s suits and I in men’s accessories. I have never forgotten Ben, he made a big impression on me. Ben radiated positive energy! I remember him as kind, thoughtful, gracious and respectful. Ben had a great sense of humour. He was a truly caring person who provided gentle guidance about work and sometimes about life. While I moved on, and away from Regina, I thought of Ben often. My most sincere condolence to all of Ben’s family and friends.

Ben sold me suits a few times a few decades ago when he worked at The Bay when the store was located on Hamilton Street. I have forgotten just about everyone else who sold me clothing over the years, but I remember Ben. There was something thoroughly positive and uplifting about this man, that made you want to be in is presence. His runs around Wascana at an advanced age were additional causes for admiration of this good and unique man!

Ben's infectious sense of humour and positive view of life meant any encounter with him was an uplifting experience and left one wanting to emulate him. There should be no sorrow in his passing but rather gratitude that he was given so many years to share his wonderful spirit with those he met in life.

A common refrain at the Y over the years was: ‘I hope I’m like Ben when I get older.’ The pack who joined him for his 90th birthday run marvelled at his determination and joy as he jogged up Smith Street, with a big smile on his face. Thanks Ben - you truly were inspiring.

Irene Farberman and I, Betty Eskdale were friends of Mildred and we played Mah Jongg together, alternating at one another's homes. Ben used to entertain us with short stories when we were there. We remember him fondly.

My husband John and I used to walk daily around Wascana Lake. We met Ben jogging regularly over many years. He was always ready to pause for a cheerful chat.
When John died and I continued daily walks, it was always good to see Ben jogging. in all weathers. It was a sign that "All's well with the world."
He was a good man.
