She lived close to her relatives and spent a great deal of time with them. She took dance lessons, loved to read and had many holidays with family at the seaside. When war came to England, at 15 years of age, Mom worked in a war factory. It was during these years Mom met a Canadian soldier, Carl Pinnow, and they were married April 20, 1946. Mom was warmly welcomed by Dad’s family and friends in Pense. They resided there until Dad became an elevator agent in Esme, where Mom made lifelong friends. Friends that taught her to be a great cook, baker, canner, knitter while learning much about rural life in Saskatchewan. Mom, Dad and Glenn returned to Regina after four years and Mom worked at home raising their children. The majority of Mom’s working career, outside the home, took place at the Regina General Hospital where Mom retired from the pharmacy department. During her career she met another war bride, Kay Garside, who invited her to join the Sask. War Brides Assoc. Mom had found a group of women who had shared many of the same experiences. As a member of the War Brides Assoc., Mom’s favourite activities were singing for the Veterans at Wascana Hospital and travelling. She learned to love football and especially enjoyed watching NFL and her favourite guy, Tom Brady. Special thanks to those who assisted in caring for Mom especially the Palliative Care Team. A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations in Joyce’s memory to a charity of their choice.
