Obituary of Irma Esther Armsworthy
It is with profound sadness, and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irma, age 81years, our beloved wife, mother, gram, “Yaya” and sister. She passed away in the loving arms of her family on Thursday, June 6, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Virgil and June Barnes and her son-in-law Kelly Kaytor. Irma is survived by her husband and best friend of 60 years, Gerald; daughters, Kelly Armsworthy (Albert Easthom) and grandchildren, Dallas, Bobbie Jo, Cierra, and Austin Jacobs; Rae Kaytor (James Hubenig) and granddaughters, Shauna (Jim) Christie, and Christina (Evan) Barth; great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Yaya,” Dylan, Parker, and Isabelle Christie and Hazel Barth; sisters, Geraldine Ellis, Eleanor Vogelgesang and Carol Davidson; brother Lester (Shirley) Barnes; as well as numerous special nieces, nephews, and many very dear friends. What do we want you to know about our precious Irma? She was firm, but fair; she expected us to always try our best - and was such a cheerleader for all things in our lives. Gram made the best mashed potatoes, tarts, roast chicken - actually, everything she made for us was the best. She never complained; even on a bad day she would say “I’m feeling okay.” Her hugs were strong and sincere and her kisses were affectionate, and often. We cannot begin to eloquently articulate what this woman meant to our family. We are truly a strong, loving, well bonded family because of the roots she laid for us. Our hearts are so broken having to say goodbye to her. The family wishes to thank the Palliative Home Care Team and Rayann and Dave Slater for all they have done to support Irma - and us. As per Irma’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Family and friends so wishing, may make memorial donations in Irma’s name to the Wa Wa Shriners Patient Transportation Fund, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2E1.
To Yaya, “we promise to take the best care of Papa. Love you so very much; we truly are so fortunate to have had you in our lives. Rest easy our love.”
