Obituary of Yee "Louise" Loo Woo
Louise passed away peacefully on June 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in 1935 in GuangZhou, China. She immigrated with her brother Willy to Canada, in 1950, to be with her father and step-mother, Eddy and Mary Eng in Sydney, BC. Louise married her husband Dick in 1958, in Victoria, BC. She treasured her family and took great delight in her grandchildren. She was always a consummate host and ensured that no one left her home hungry. Louise loved to travel all over the world, met people from many cultures and made lasting friendships, and enjoyed world cuisine in its finest. Louise loved her community and participated in many yearly festivals. After retirement, Louise and Dick moved to tropical Vancouver to escape Regina's brutal winters. They lived in Vancouver for 10 years, but have always considered Regina their home. Those who were blessed to know Louise, knew the warmth of her smile, the generosity of her heart, and the graciousness of her personality. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dick Woo (Regina, SK); her children, Eileen Tsui (Joe), Arthur Woo (Jean), Ken Woo (Ruth); her grandchildren, Jeanette, Jordan, Jaydon, Jasmine, Emily, Julie, Samuel, Isaac and Jenna (all from Regina, SK): one brother, Victor Eng (Jane); sisters-in-law, Jane C. Eng and Anne Eng and their children (Victoria, BC); sister-in-law, Guy Ying Quon and her family (Toronto, ON); Louise also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family in Regina, Victoria, Vancouver, New York and Los Angeles. She was predeceased by her biological mother and one older brother in China; her father, Eddy Eng; step-mother, Mary Eng; younger biological brother, Willy Eng; younger step brother, Tony Eng (all from Victoria); and father and mother in law, Don and Seto Sue Yee Woo (Regina). A private memorial service celebrating Louise’s life, presided by Pastor David Fong, was held at Speers Funeral Chapel in Regina, SK on Saturday, June 22, 2019 and interment followed at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The family is very grateful for all the support received from family and friends.
