It is with great sadness that the family announces Bernice’s passing on June 19, 2019Bernice Margaret McEachern was born in Regina on August 18, 1939, to Basil and Elva (nee Wilson) McEachern, the 8th of 10 children.  She attended Haultain School for her elementary years, then went to Balfour Tech.  She was very proud of her “block B” letter, and was awarded a school trophy for her high academic standing and sporting accomplishments.  Upon graduation, she was employed with the Vital Statistics Department of the provincial government.  She was proud of her Scottish heritage, and loved to dance.  Bernice was an avid Rider fan, and recently followed the Raptors’ winning season closely.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildrens’ sporting events, and kept track of their game schedules. She attended a Vegas Golden Knights game during a Vegas trip last December, and loved the exciting atmosphere.  She was also a seasoned shopper, always treating her grandchildren generously when returning from their many US trips.

Bernice married RCMP Corporal Gavin (Tex) Shearer of Carstairs, Alberta, on November 23, 1963.  They resided in Regina until the fall of 1966, when Tex was transferred to Ottawa to train the horses for the RCMP Musical Ride.  They relocated back west in 1968, and after postings in North Battleford, Cut Knife, and Fort Qu’Appelle, they settled in Regina.
