Obituary of Elaine Janet Olesen-Anderson

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Elaine Olesen-Anderson of Lumsden, SK on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Beloved wife of Arthur Anderson of George Gordon First Nation; Elaine is survived by her son Ash (Rebecca); grandchildren Nigel Olesen, Kiya (Jacob) Sereina, and Ilana Steadman; sisters Audrey (Dick) Yee of Swift Current, Eleanor Grona of Medicine Hat; and brother Jim (Mavis) Olesen of Vancouver Island.  She also leaves to mourn step-daughters Elizabeth Steadman (Dave), Brenda Reid (Derek); stepson Brian Anderson along with numerous nieces and nephews. Elaine was predeceased by her parents Chris and Olive (aka Grandma Goose) Olesen of Swift Current; and by her older sister Beverly in childhood. Born March 8, 1942 and raised in Swift Current, Elaine later moved to Regina with her son, and worked at Sun Electric for many years. She married Arthur in 1993 and they spent many hours tending to his ministry and his volunteer activities with the Bold Eagle Program. In later years, Elaine enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.  Special thanks to Brie Galenzoski, Rob Gazda and Isabelle McKenzie for their friendship and support to Elaine in her final months. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Wake will take place at George Gordon First Nation, in the old gym, on Monday July 1, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.   Celebratory Church Service and interment will take place in the fall. Family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Elaine, may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital through the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, SK, S4P 4B3.
