Obituary of Mervin Earl Kohlsmith

Mervin passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the age of 69 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Earl; and sister Linda Fiorante. Mervin is survived by his wife Shirley; daughters, Michelle (Trent) and Theresa (Mike); sisters, Elaine Swerid and Kathy (Frank) Hoffman; brother-in-law Felix Fiorante; siblings-in-law Beryl (Ted) Olson, Lorne (Edna) Newsome, Pat Kaytor, Len (Jean) Newsome; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mervin was a Social Worker for many years, starting in the Qu’Appelle Region, followed by working at the Paul Dojack Youth Centre until his retirement in 2005. He was an active and dedicated member of the Maple Leaf Lion’s Club and the Lion’s 35 since 1995. We would like to thank everyone who was involved in his care over the past years.  As well as the numerous neighbours and friends for their love and support. A Come and Go Reception will be held at the Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK, on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mervin’s name to The Lion’s Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, 152 Wilson Street, Oakville, Ontario, L6K 0G6.
