MCKENDRICK, Dorothy Nellie (nee Dunham)

September 24, 1927  -  September 14, 2019

Dorothy passed away peacefully in Regina on September 14, 2019, a few days short of her 92nd birthday. Dorothy was born in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan to John and Margery Dunham. She grew up in Carievale until the family moved to Nipawin in 1937. Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond; her parents John and Margery Dunham; and her brothers, Vern and Bob. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Neil (Valerie) of Calgary and Wayne (Patricia) of Edmonton; four grandchildren, Dawn (Darcy), Rebecca (Duane), Lisa (Mark) and Nolan (Beth); eight great-grandchildren, Dustin (22), Deanna (20), Cameron (13), Alexis (11), Avery (7), Hale (8), Finn (5) and Remy (1); two sisters, Betty Webb and Vee Couyik; sister-in-law Barb Dunham; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Dorothy played a significant role in her granddaughter Dawn’s life, not only as a grandmother but as a role model in helping to raise her. Gardening was Dorothy’s passion, and she was an award-winning member and active volunteer with The Regina Horticultural Society for many years. She loved knitting, crocheting and needle point, creating a number of family treasures. Above all, Dorothy loved her family and was delighted with each birth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, keeping track of their achievements and accomplishments. The family would like to express its deepest appreciation to the caring staff of the Regina Pasqua Hospital, to Dr. Vermeulen, and to the staff of the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice - all for their kindness and care in Dorothy’s final days. There will be a Memorial Service for Dorothy held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of Dorothy, to the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK, S4R 8P6.
