With sadness that we lost her earthly presence, but joy that she is now at peace in heaven, we announce the passing of Norma Wilkening. Beloved wife and mother, Norma lived a life of laughter coupled with a fierce determination to see others treated with dignity and compassion. Her wit and curiosity were present until the end, as was her love for God, music, art, books, neurobics, and sports. Norma was predeceased by husband Harvie; parents Anna and David Schmidt; sister Agnes Wilkening; and brother John Schmidt. She leaves behind her daughter Paula and son-in-law David; brothers Clarence (Norma) and Gordon (Helen) Schmidt; sister Irene Lloyd; and many nieces and nephews who always brightened her day. Heart-felt thanks are extended to the aides and nurses on the personal care floor of College Park II, who provided Norma with exceptional and loving care during the past five years of her life. Their unending kindness brought joy to both Norma and her family. Deep thanks are also extended to Dr. L. Blignaut for his tireless care and support of Norma and her family. A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, your continued prayers for Norma and her family will be gratefully accepted.
