Obituary of Mary Eleanor Hotz

The family of Mary Hotz is saddened by her passing at the age of 90 years on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Regina General Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Knutson, Debbie Irvine (Darrel), Dianne Hotz (Bill); grandchildren Cheri Knutson, Aaron Knutson (Andrea), Jim Austin (Angela), Jill Wiens (Trevor), Mark Hotz, Amy Antosh (Shaun) and Tim Irvine (Karri); eleven great-grandchildren; her sister Mildred Gaudry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 54 years,  Eldie (2007); her son Gregory (1960); her son-in-law Lorne Knutson (2019); as well as four older sisters and three older brothers. Mary was born on January 27, 1929 and raised on the farm in Goodwater, Saskatchewan. In 1952, she successfully completed her training as a Registered Nurse at Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She and Eldie were married in 1953 and, after living in Weyburn, Saskatchewan for a short time, they relocated to Regina where they raised their children and became life-long residents. Mary dedicated her nursing career to the care of seniors, tending compassionately to those at many of Regina’s hospitals and seniors’ homes. Following her retirement in 1993, she and Eldie enjoyed many years in their trailer and camper as travellers across Canada and the northern US. She was a well-loved and active member of her church until recently when she experienced a decline in her health. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all of the health care professionals who always treated Mary with the utmost of compassion and caring. Funeral Service will be held at Rosewood Park Alliance Church, 1300 N Courtney Street, Regina, SK, on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Blood Services, 2571 Broad Street, Regina, SK, S4P 4H6.
