Obituary of Lamprine Kokonas

KOKONAS, Lamprine

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother. Lamprine Kokonas passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Thursday November 14th, 2019 in Regina, Saskatchewan.  Lamprine was born on September 19, 1935 in Kastri, Kynourias Greece.  She immigrated to Canada in June 1966 and was married June 1967. In her early years in her hometown of Kastri she was a dedicated member of XEEN (A Religious Youth Group) devoted to spreading the Christian faith. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Community and Philoptohos Society. Lamprine was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Dimitrios “Jim” Kokonas; her parents Vasilios and Maria Karahalios; brother George (Marty) Karahalios; sister Aspasia (Nick) Roumeliotis; brother-in-law Louis Perentes; in-laws George and Constantina Kokonas, brothers-in-law Nickolas Kokonas, Theodoros (Katina) Kokonas,  Kostas (Vasiliki) Kokonas, Antonios (Georgia) Kokonas, Helen (Kostas) Korolis, Paul (Katina) Kokonas; nephews George P. Kokonas and John Maniatis; nieces Konstantina Katsiris and Helen Margetas. Lamprine will be sadly missed by son George (Heather), daughter Dena (Darren) Varley and her precious granddaughters Christy and Maria; brother Lyle (Cassandra) Karahalios, sister Irene Perentes; and numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Father Spyridon Vandoros for his spiritual guidance as well as Pasqua Hospital staff on MSU and unit 4A. Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church with Father Spyridon Vandoros presiding.  Interment to follow at Regina Memorial Gardens.
