Obituary of Rose Marie Dwernychuk

DWERNYCHUK, Rose Marie

(née Spott)

Rose Marie Dwernychuk of Regina, and formerly of Clearview Resort and the Canora/Gorlitz area, passed away quietly on December 3, 2019. Rosie, as she was known to many, was born in Moose Jaw SK on May 12, 1930 to Demetrius (Mike) and Frances Spott. After graduating business school, she met and married Steve Dwernychuk. During their life together they lived in various places, finally settling in Gorlitz. There were nine children born to this union. Keeping the family fed and clothed kept Rosie busy.  In 1975, Steve passed away leaving Rosie to continue supporting and raising her family. Rosie made a living as best she could, doing laundry and housekeeping at local hotels, and finally at the CN Hostel in Canora, where she worked until her retirement. She was a proud member of Yorkton Anavets and the Legion for a number of years. She made many friends while bowling and participating in numerous dart tournaments. One of her greatest joys was dancing and she spent many weekends at the “Why Be Alone” dances. It was at one of these dances that she met Ray Wainman. The two became very close. After Rosie’s retirement, they moved into Ray’s house at Clearview Resort. They spent many happy years traveling, dancing, and visiting with their many friends and relatives. Rosie cherished being on the lakefront, and spent many hours there reading, embroidering, playing solitaire, and enjoying her yard and the flowerbeds. She loved to help Ray with woodworking projects. Together they made many ornaments for themselves, and gifts for family and friends. Following Ray’s passing, Rosie moved into Trianon Towers in Regina. Rosie was predeceased by her parents, Demetrius (Mike) and Frances Spott; her husband Steve Dwernychuk; and her partner Ray Wainman. She is survived by her children: Alice (Jerry) Dutchak of Crystal Lake, SK, and their children: Jennifer Dutchak, Crystal (Cam) McCracken, and Amber (Carlo) Piedra; Greg (Lauren) Dwernychuk of Surrey, BC, and their children: John (Eri) Dwernychuk, Katie Dwernychuk (Iain), and Andrea Dwernychuk (Logan); Sandra (Andy) Beblow of Yorkton, SK, and their children: David Beblow (Heather), and Craig Beblow (Sheila); George (Joanne) Dwernychuk of Saskatoon, SK, and their children: Kate (Shannon) Unruh and Tyler Dwernychuk; Grant (Lisa) Dwernychuk of Larkspur, CO, USA, and their children, Joshua Dwernychuk and Dawson Dwernychuk; JoAnne (Stephen) West of Callander, ON, and their children: Jackie West and Casey (William) Hisey; Garth (Sherri) Dwernychuk of High River AB, and their children: Alicia Dwernychuk and Graham Dwernychuk (Selina); Linda (Darcy) Watkins of Coquitlam, BC, and their children: James (Melody) Watkins, Tim Watkins (Emily), and Leslie (JoAnn) Watkins; Denise (Ashley) O’Hare of Theodore, SK, and daughter Melanie (Mark) Coderre; and great grandchildren: Clive, Cole, Brielle, Hanley, Amy, Charleese, Sophie, and Jude; one brother Dan (Sharon) Spott.
