She was a Registered Nurse having graduated from the Saskatoon City Hospital Student Nurse’s Program in 1955. Out of 100 of her class mates, she was presented with the Award for being the best student nurse in Pediatrics. During the annual field day she won first prize in all the events, except in discus and javelin throws. She always said, “those farm girls have bigger arms than mine.” She was captain of the girl’s hockey team, and skip of the girl’s curling team. Dorothy loved to fish. She would ask if you wanted a little bet; a dollar on the first fish, a dollar on the biggest fish and a dollar on the most fish. She always won two out of the three. She was given a Certificate of Proficiency by the Ontario Sailing Association. Dorothy was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and received her fifty year gold pin award a few years ago.
