I was so sorry to hear of Ken's illness and his passing. I worked with Ken for nearly 25 years at The Academy of Music and later at Long & McQuade. When Stephanie turned 4 years old, Ken asked me if I would be her teacher. It was an honour to be asked by this accomplished musician and Stephanie and I began lessons. I'll never forget Ken's reaction when I told Stephanie that gum would always make her feel better! She had got a paper cut during her lesson and started to cry. My attempt at comforting her with words and hugs didn't work nearly as well as giving her gum! Stephanie ran into Ken's office after the lesson and promptly told him that gum cured all cuts! Afterwards, Ken said to me: Thanks for telling Steph that gum would cure everything! Now I have to make sure I always have gum on hand in case Stephanie hurts herself!
Ken always knew the best places to eat around town and he introduced me to several local diners during our years together at The Academy. Thanks for all those yummy lunches!
Ken had a great sense of humour and when customers or circumstances got a little tense - he would lighten the tension with his quick wit! Thanks for all those laughs Ken. They really were greatly appreciated.
To DeLee and all of Ken's family - I am so very sorry for your loss. May God's Angels surround and provide you with comfort as you work through your grief.
Rest in peace my friend.
