Auntie Gladys passed away peacefully in her sleep following a life well lived on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at age 97. She exemplified the version of the Greatest Generation born and raised on the Prairies. Even though her early life was extremely difficult she always spoke with admiration about the childhood farm shared with her mom (May, 1970), dad (Gordie, 1983), Bruv (Roy, 2011) and the horses. She took tremendous pride in her over 40 year career with Eatons, retiring as manager of the Hardware Department.
Gladys adored her husband Ivan (2000), and loved her extended family and those she considered and treated like family, always opening her door for visits or a home cooked meal. The coffee was always on. She had a bit of a sweet tooth, enjoying her jelly beans and she was always up for some ice cream.
Her neighbour and close friend Fran will remember Gladys as the kindest person she knows. She had a little twinkle in her eye and really enjoyed a good belly laugh.
Auntie Gladys had a passion for curling, both as player and fan, and watching her beloved Green Riders on television. Her favourites were George Reed and Ronnie Lancaster, and she always watched with the sound off while listening to the radio broadcast of the game.
Gladys really enjoyed writing letters and sending cards on special occasions, or just to keep in touch. She also had a bit of a green thumb and enjoyed puttering in the garden and looking after her fruit trees.
We would like to thank Fran and Connie for being awesome neighbours and taking incredible care of our Auntie Gladys when she had to leave her home in 2011. Her days were also brightened by the love of friends like Joyce and Verna, and "Gladys Girls" Linda, Brenda, and Donna.
Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to attend are to call Roberta at Speers Funeral Chapel to RSVP.
