Obituary of Shirley Luella Warnke

Shirley Warnke, passed away peacefully surrounded by her very supportive family on January 14, 2020 in the ICU of Pasqua Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Adeline King; her grandparents and her aunts Tina and Luella. Shirley was born and raised on the family farm. In 1961 she married John Warnke of Regina and then lived in Manitoba until 1999 at which time she returned to the family farm. Shirley is remembered by her husband of 59 years John Warnke; son Mark (Claudette), granddaughter Veronique (Ryan) Warkentin, great-grandchildren Bennett and Dara, grandson Andrew (Samantha); daughter Laura (Gerry) Graham-Gauthier, grandsons Jon, Joseph and Denis and son Brian. Shirley and John lived in a total of 19 houses, which Shirley ensured it was home no matter the condition and duration of stay, always improving each dwelling. She was an excellent Wife and Mom, housekeeper, cook, seamstress and host, all the while working outside the home. Shirley always became involved with each community she lived in through Kinettes, school fund raising by being the promotor and editor of two successful cook-books in Dauphin and Carman, Manitoba, Knights of Columbus Ladies and the R.C.M.P. family including the Regina R.C.M.P. Ladies Auxiliary. She always led a very active life. On December 31, 2019 she went to hospital with pneumonia and on to the ICU from where God called her Home. Funeral Service will be held at the RCMP Chapel, 11th Avenue, Regina, SK, on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. At Shirley’s request, wear bright colours to brighten the day. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Pasqua Hospital ICU for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s remembrance may be made to Saskatchewan Diabetes Association, 919B Albert St., Regina, SK, S4R 2P6, the Saskatchewan MS Society, 150 Albert St., Regina, SK, S4R 2N2 or a charity of your choice.
