Obituary of J. Stuart MacLachlan

John Stuart MacLachlan passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 83 years of age. Born in Petrolia, Ontario, he grew up on a farm outside of Oil Springs with loving parents, two brothers, and his sister. Stu joined the RCMP and came to Saskatchewan in 1959. While stationed in Melfort he met his wife of 41 years, Gloria, who predeceased him by 16 years. We take comfort knowing they are together now. During his career with the RCMP he was stationed in Blaine Lake, Melfort, Wakaw, Saskatoon, Assiniboia, and Regina. He was a devoted community member, an active Mason and Shriner, and supporter of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time at his cabin at Christopher Lake. Stu is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Murray) and Adrienne (Camille); four grandchildren, Victoria (Mitchell), Erin, Connor, and Sydney; sister, Anne (Donald); and brothers Donald and Angus (Connie); He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Beatrice and his wife, Gloria. He passed away in the arms of his loved ones. There will be family prayers and a Masonic Service at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at the RCMP Chapel, 11th Avenue, Regina, SK, on Tuesday, January, 21, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the RCMP Cemetery and reception to follow. Family and friends so wishing, may make memorial donations in Stu’s name, to the Shrine Wa-Wa- Travel Fund for Children, 2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2E1 or the Masonic Leadership Camp for Youth, C/O Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan, 1930 Lorne Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2M1.
