Sister Sabina Koronkiewicz

Obituary of Sister Sabina Koronkiewicz

It is with sadness, but in faith yet with the ever hope for the eternal life after, we announce the quiet passing of Sister Sabina Rose Mary Koronkiewicz from the Order of the Loretto Sisters, also fondly known as Sister Mary Georgette, on January 22, 2020, in Regina Saskatchewan. Sister Sabina was born on February 20, 1934 in Francis, Saskatchewan, began life on the farm, attended boarding school and then joined the Order of the Loretto Sisters. Sister Sabina taught school in the Regina area for many years starting in the early 1960's and for decades to follow, spending a lot of time at O'Neill High School and the Parish of St. Peters. Sister Sabina's quest for information with respect to the ancestral roots of her family saw her travel extensively internationally through the years to meet with family members and those that knew the history and people of the Chowaniec and Koronkiewicz families. Sister Sabina will be lovingly remembered by her family, and friends and all those she worked with. A full Catholic Funeral Mass Service will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday February 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Father John Weckend presiding. A small lunch and gathering will be held in the parish hall immediately following the service and all family and friends are welcome to attend in Sister Sabina's honor. A family interment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park following the lunch and gathering. Thank you in advance for all those that take time to remember Sister Sabina in their prayers.
