Ruth Bouey

Obituary of Ruth Valera Bouey

Ruth, was born on April 28, 1934 to parents Carl and Emilia Stricker at Rhein, SK. It was there that she was baptised and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Ruth attended Rhein School and graduated from grade 12 in 1952. In the fall of 1952, she moved to Regina and began a career at Sask Tel as a Long Distance Operator. After working in this position for 15 years, she then began pursuing other options within the company. Ruth remained with Sask Tel during her working career and retired 36.5 years later. In 1955, she married Clifford Bouey and they had one daughter Belinda. Ruth’s hobbies were knitting and sewing. She started selling her wares at different craft sales in the city at various places. It almost became a second job she would say! In the summer, her garden became her pleasure, especially the flowers. Every year you would see her flower garden grow in size. It brought her great satisfaction, when people walking by, would stop and ask if they could come into the yard and have a better look. Clifford and Ruth enjoyed travelling and took several extended trips. They enjoyed places from the East to the West Coast in the states and Canada including Hawaii. In 2016 Ruth’s eye sight began failing, this left her fairly limited as to what she could do. She tried to think positive but she admitted that putting on a great front all the time was a very difficult task. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, Clifford; daughter Belinda (Tom); two granddaughters, Ashlee (Duncan) and Kaitlyn; two great-grandchildren, Myree and Duncan; brother Bill (Audrey); two nieces Shari (Jim) and Valerie (Lyle); nephews Randy and Terry, Calvin and Daryl ; brother-in-law Lloyd (Bernice); as well as many other relatives and friends including best friends, Louise and Laureen. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Craig Moeller officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Ruth, to a charity of your choice.
