So many memories. Walking home from Carlton High School with Lorne. He was so easy to talk to.
Visiting the Sparling cabin at Emma Lake where one was always treated to good food, a good drink, easy conversation, and fun family interactions.
Lorne had much to do with the career paths both Fay and I were to follow. Fay had a wonderful, rewarding career in adult education - a career that Lorne was instrumental in starting.
Lorne was my principal at Carlton Comprehensive High School. He was a well liked and respected administer. The greatest gift I received from Lorne was a time he commented to me that the time a student needs a teacher the most is when a test result for that student is not a favorable one for that student. Lorne said, "The teacher must reach out to that student to reassure she or he that we (the school and teachers) are there to help." Lorne went on to say that, "The dignity and self confidence of the student is our utmost responsibility." Thank you Lorne. You were truly a fine, fine educator.
Our thoughts go out to the Sparling family.
Fay and Morley Harrison.

Carrie. Our sympathies to you and your family. We were not aware of Lorne's passing until we saw the thank you note in the LP this week. We were down south when he passed away.
Lorne was always such a nice and friendly person. May he now rest in eternal peace.

Carey and Family:
Our very sincere sympathy on Lorne's passing. Carey, Lorne was wonderfully blessed to have your love and caring
support, and that of the family, over the years. I have fond memories of first meeting you both that long ago summer in Winnipeg
and of our friendship since then. Really enjoyed Lorne's sense of humour, our sometimes serious discussions settling the affairs of the world, his knowledge of Saskatchewan and his passion for the 'Riders' and much more. It was such a privilege to have known Lorne. So many great memories of time spent with you both.
Condolences and all the Best. Roy Richford.

I was saddened to see the notice of Lorne's passing. I worked with him at the Department of Post Secondary Education in the 1990's and thoroughly enjoyed his dry sense of humour and his willingness to impart the history of so many issues, not just those associated with he Department. But he actually had a particularly profound influence on me. In October 1996, when he knew I lived on a small farm he asked if I'd like to foster an International student for the Rotary Club. We said yes, and to this very day I consider that woman my daughter. She lives in Germany and she has been back to her beloved Canada to see us many times. We stay in touch regularly. I fondly remember the circumstances that brought us together. Thank you so much Lorne. May God Bless you. Condolences to Lorne's family.
