Obituary of Jeanine Annette Statler
It is with great sadness that the family of Jeanine Annette Statler (née Whetherly) announces her passing on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the age of 74, following a long battle with dementia. Jeanine was predeceased by her parents Regina (Jean) and Jim (Archibald) Whetherly. She will be forever missed by her loving spouse of almost 50 years, Len; daughters, Tonya (Mark) Sandberg of Calgary and Kim (Ryan Hicks) Statler of Regina; four grandchildren, Connor, Kamryn, Lily and Maggie; sister Elaine Lindskog; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanine and her twin sister Elaine were born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on the day the war ended, VJ day 1945. She was an avid collector over the years, loved reading, and seemed to have endless patience for crafting, sometimes spending an entire year on a project. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching their activities, especially lacrosse games and dance recitals. The family wishes to thank the staff at Cherished Hearts Personal Care Home, who provided excellent care to Jeanine this past year, after her husband Len lovingly cared for her in the years prior. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Friends and family wishing to make donations, in memoriam, may donate to Diabetes Canada, 1300-522 University Avenue, Toronto ON M5G 2R5.
